A police sub-inspector of the Sinapali police station was severely injured due to attack by a man of Bhuliabhata village on Saturday morning.
Arun Kumar Khilar, who is working as a probationer sub-inspector in the Sinapali Police Station, had gone to Buliabhata with four other police officials to arrest Sundar Majhi of the village.
An FIR had been lodged against Majhi in the Police Station by his wife’s parents a few days ago where the old couple had alleged that they had been attacked by Majhi without any reason.
As Majhi did not come to the police station in spite of being sent for several times, the police officials went to the village to nab him on Saturday. However, when Majhi saw the policemen, he attacked them with a sharp axe without any provocation. SI Khilar received severe frontal scull injury and was referred to the SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack. Meanwhile, Majhi was detained by the police.
