'Accidents due to youths' speed-thrill mindset'

Published on:

Road causalities have increased in the State due to speed-thrill mindset of youths. To make the youths aware of this, the Sankha Dhwani Rasta Surakhya Samiti organised a sensitisation progroamme at the Gandhi Institute for Technological Advancement (GITA) here on Saturday.

Additional Commissioner (Transport) Samir Kumar Panigrahi inaugurated the workshop in the presence of former Nalco Director Sudhansu Sekhar Mohapatra and Regional Transport Authority-1, MVI BN Adhikari.

The speakers opined that a large number of youths between the age group of 22 and 39 years are most vulnerable to road causalities due to lack of sensitisation. The Government has taken the issue seriously and has formed a road safety council to monitor road safety activities in the State.

The former Nalco Director highlighted some safety tips needs to be inculcated within the youths. Samiti Secretary Prakash Kumar Mohapatra, who carried out the workshop, appealed the student to adhere minimum road etiquette for their own safety.
