ABVP protests Nigam College irregularities

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Sunday organised a protest meeting against the alleged irregularities in the Nigam Institute of Engineering and Technology College in the city.

“The Nigam College has been cheating its students in many ways. While it has only seven teaching and nonteaching staffs, its website shows that 107 men are in position. The college authorities are pocketing stipend money of SC and ST students by keeping ATM cards with them,” alleged ABVP State secretary Abhilash Panda.

Alleging that SC and ST students are being given caste remarks, ABVP activists urged the Khandagiri police station IIC to expedite investigation into the allegation on the basis of FIR registered earlier.

They too demanded that the Technical Education Minister should direct the Pro- Vice Chancellor of the BPUT to conduct an investigation into the allegations. “The Government should find alternative ways for students and cancel registration of the Nigam College,” Panda demanded further.

Among others, ABVP Technical Cell’s State assistant coordinator Rahul Nayak, Pritam Das, Swarup Sambit, Rohit Nayak, Manas Sahu, Nigam College’s former lecturer Manoranjan Sahoo, Soumya Mishra, Subhajit Barik and student leader Keshab Jha were present.
