The Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) has opposed the decision of the State Government to appoint Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers in senior administrative posts of the Departments of Higher Education and School & Mass Education which were earlier held by educationists.

The Government in a Resolution published recently has mentioned that OAS officers will be appointed as Directors of Higher Education, State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT), Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya Sansthan, Rashtriya Madhyamika Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) and Text Book Production & Marketing, Registrars of all the State universities and Secretaries of Board of Secondary Education and Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE).

ABRSM National Executive Council member Dr Narayan Mohanty, in a statement said, “While the New Education Policy (NEP) emphasises on de-bureaucratisation of our educational system, the State Government’s decision contradicts it.” The decision would create ruckus in the field of education in the State, Dr Mohanty apprehended and urged the Government to reconsider the decision and appoint educationists in the senior administrative posts as per the previous

practice.
