Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday conferred National Bravery Award-2015 on 25 brave hearts, including Odisha’s Abinash Mishra, at a function held in New Delhi.
Twelve-year-old Abinash of Dhirapur village under the Nimapara police limits in Puri district had fearlessly jumped into the Kushabhadra river to save a boy, Bidhubhusan.
Abinash noticed Bidhubhusan slipping further into the deepwater. He e e He jumped into the river and dragged Bidhubhusan and swam to the shore.
The bravery award recipients will also participate in the Republic Day parade in the National capital.
