Protesting against the anti-people land Acquisition Ordinance and Bill-2015, several activists under the banner of the Jami Adhigrahan Virodhi Abhiyan held a roadside protest meeting here on Saturday. The activists opined that the NDA Government's "conspiracy" of using the anti-people and anti-farmers land Bill in the interest of capitalists and corporate houses would never be made successful.
The protest meeting was held as part of the Abhiyan's call to observe a State-wide protest fortnight from April 25 to May 10. It was decided to generate public opinion against the Bill and hold protest meetings, dharnas and agitations and collect 10 lakh signatures to intensify its movement against the Government's move. The protest meeting was presided over by Narendra Mohanty from the Banabasi Surakhya Parishad, Abhiram Behera from the Odisha Krushaka Sabha and Rebati Ballabh Mohanty.
