The Balikuda police arrested two kidnappers who had abducted a youth, identified as Chinmaya Jena from Khankarpur village under Balikuda block two days ago.
The duo kidnappers were identified as Rashmi Ranjan Swain and Hemant Kumar Swain, both also hailing from the same village. The police forwarded them to court on Monday.
Reports said that the accused persons had called Chinmaya on Sunday noon from his home and took him forcibly to an unknown location. Later, they telephoned the victim's mother asking her for ransom in lieu of returning the victim.
The victim's grandfather Jadumani Jena soon lodged an FIR in Balikuda police station stating the facts. Police swung into action taking clues from the victim’s family and raided several locations in the Kujanga area and later traced Chinmaya at Taladanda and rescued him from there, besides nabbing the abductors.
During interrogations, the abductors claimed that Chinmaya had taken Rs 60,000 from them promising to provide them job in a company but later he stated avoiding them.
They said they had complained before police in this regard but didn't get any relief. Finally, they said they hatched a plan for kidnapping Chinmaya to get back the money.
