Abducted man slain by Maoists in Rayagada

In yet another incident of Maoist barbarity, an abducted man’s dead body with the throat slit was found in Rayagada district on Tuesday. The man was identified as Mali Pusika.

Sources Mali Pusika and another man Munda Pusika were abducted from Salapjhala village under the Muniguda police station in the district. They were abducted by the Red rebels from their village on March 19. It is suspected that the Maoists thought them to be police informers.

Coming close on the heels of the abduction of three villagers in Kalahnadi district, the incident has again triggered a fear psychosis among the locals. Police officials feel that the rebels by such incidents want to terrorise the local residents to toe their line and stay away from the police and security forces.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh on Tuesday visited Kalahandi district and reviewed the law and order situation and the insurgency problem in the district.

Speaking to the media Singh said the law and order situation in the district is under control and the police and security forces have prepared strategies to combat the extremist forces. Singh also informed that the infrastructure and manpower would be bolstered. South- West Range DIG and the Special Operations Group (SOG) Commandant and Kalahandi SP were also present.
