One Chandan Das, a contractual labourer in the Aarti Steel and Power Company here, died on Wednesday following an accident.
The accident had taken place in the company premises five days back and was under treatment along with other two at a hospital in Cuttack.
Demanding ex-gratia and other benefits to the family members of the deceased, irate villagers ransacked the security office and damaged several properties of the company.
However, the company authority revealed that `2.5 lakh was given for the marriage ceremony expenditure of the daughter of the deceased, `5 lakh as ex-gratia and `50,000 for funeral ceremony. This apart, the deceased’s father has been given a job in the company.
