Members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Balangir unit led by Ajaya Das on Thursday staged a demonstration at the district Collectorate here protesting against the Central Government’s decision to phase out subsidy from lPG cylinders and hike its price by Rs 4 every month.
Das said it would mostly affect the poor and put extra burden on them as the Central Government has given the responsibility of distribution of cylinders to the Reliance and another private company.
The activists alleged that the public money would likely to be misutilised by the companies and demanded withdrawal of the decision and to involve people in decision making process for lPG distribution.
later, the activist submitted a memorandum addressed to the Governor through the district administration.
