Briefing mediapersons here after the party’s second State council meeting, AAP State coordinator Nishikant Mohapatra said, “The AAP will field candidates in all the 147 Assembly constituencies in order to ensure a healthy democracy in the State and the country.” He said so far nearly 7,500 people have joined the party while 1,000 members have donated funds to the party.

Stating that the district and block executive committees have already been formed at many places to take up local issues like governance and corruption, Mohapatra said, “The main aim of the AAP is to make a corruption-free society.” Party national executive committee member Prof Ajit Jha strongly opposed the reluctance of the political parties, including the Biju Janata Dal, to come under the RTI Act.

But here, the ruling BJD has refused to give financial information sought under the RTI Act which goes against the purported clean image of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,” said Prof Jha. later, the party activists staged a rally in protest against the Union Cabinet’s decision to amend the RTI Act to exempt political parties from its ambit.
