The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organised a State-wide agitation against the hike in the prices of petrol and diesel during the last three years of the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre.
The party alleged that while prices of petroleum product have slashed around the world, petrol costs Rs 70 per litre still in India as the Union Government raised 150 per cent production tax during the last thre years. The common people are facing a lot of problem as the prices of daily-use products have risen due to transportation cost.
The party too severely criticised Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for asking States to lessen taxes on fuels. “The Union Government has sit silent after raising production tax by 150 per cent. The Government has betrayed common people by not keeping its promise to reduce fuel prices,” alleged the party.
The party demanded that prices of petroleum products be slashed soon.
