The Aam Aadmi Party, Odisha staged a protest meeting here on Mondaydemanding ouster and arrest of Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University, Hyderabad (CUH) over suicide of a Dalit student of the university.
AAP national spokesperson and Odisha organiser Nishikant Mohapatra alleged that a Dalit student of the CUH, Rohit Bhempula, committed suicide after being unable to bear the torture meted out to him by Vice-Chancellor at the behest of two Ministers, Dattatreya and Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani. Dattatreya had issued a notice to the VC asking him not to allow canteen and playground to Dalit students, he alleged.
He too demanded an inquiry to establish the role of Irani in the incident.
“People have already rejected the attacks on the Dalits and people belong to backward classes and minority community though New Delhi and Bihar elections,” said Mohapatra.
