Aamir Khan case hearing deferred to June 21

The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court here on Tuesday deferred the hearing on a petition challenging Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s plan to use ‘Satyamev Jayate’ as business brand to June 21.

The hearing of the case, which was scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed to June 21 as the court was adjourned for the day after the death of a lawyer practising in the court.

Petitioner Subash Mohapatra, a city based journalist and social activist, had filed the petition alleging that the Bollywood superstar was planning to use ‘Satyamev Jayate’ as a business brand to sell everything from kitchen utensils to footwear.

The petitioner claimed that Khan had applied to the Mumbai Trade Marks office in April, 2012 for exclusive rights to use ‘Satyamev Jayate’ as a trademark under the Trademark Act, 1999.
