Aam Aadmi decries atrocities on women

Published on:

Activists of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) State unit on Wednesday held an awareness rally to sensitise people about the rising atrocities on women in the State and their safety to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and lal Bahadur Shastri.

“Mahatma Gandhi and lal Bahadur Shastri were always fighting to eliminate discrimination against women. They had dreamt a lot about welfare of women. But unfortunately, our country is witnessing atrocities on women daily.  The rape and murder of a Dalit girl in Pipili and a paramedical student in Delhi last year show the real status of women which reflects the standard and level of civilisation we and our society now have,” lamented AAP Satte convenor Nishikant Mohapatra.

People from different walks of life participated in the procession which originated from the Vani Vihar Square and culminated at the Master Canteen Square. The activists demanded strict implementation of laws relating to curbing of atrocities on women.
