The Khordha district administration started a drive in the city to link the Aadhaar number with the electoral photo identity card (EPIC) database on Sunday. Khordha Collector Niranjan Sahu inaugurated the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) National Electoral Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) at the Maharishi College of Natural law here.
According to the programme, voters can seed their Aadhaar number with their EPIC data online through National Voters’ Services Portal (www.nvsp.in) or by filling up a form dedicated for the said service. It may be mentioned that the applicants would have to attach photocopies of Aadhaar and photo identity card with the designated form.
The voters could also apply through e-mail or by dialing toll free number 1950 or sending message to 51969 for linkage of their Aadhar card number with their EPIC. Notably, the Aadhaar-EPIC linking project will enable de-duplication of electors database by weeding out the fraudulent (duplicate, bogus, ineligible and shifted) EPIC Card holders. Eligible citizens seeking new voter ID cards or correction in their cards, can avail fresh ones with 15 days of their application, sources said.
