It is not always that one comes across a bureaucrat-singer, and if he happens to be someone as excellent as Sudarshan Pal Thakur, one has to laud his expertise on music. An IAS officer of the 1986 batch, Thakur, now Principal Secretary, Excise, after his first public appearance here recently, proved his mettle with a melodious voice, singing from core of his heart.
“Once you listen to his songs, you will love to hear him time and again, said a connoisseur of classical songs and music, Upendra Nath Behera, Development Commissioner, who enjoyed Thakur’s songs on the release of the Deh-Videha albu The album comprises eight songs, seeks to recreate the resonance of the metaphors expressed and immanent in Tantrik Buddhism.
Odisha-based civil servant Thakur is a native from the inner Himalayas. He has been endeavouring to present the rich Buddhist heritage of Odisha in various international forums also.
The love for music was from his childhood. After entering into the IAS, he was always invited to various forums, where he used to sing very difficult songs of veteran singers with ease.
