The body of former Athamallik MLA Rajkishore Pradhan was found near railway tracks at Kainphulia under the Nalco police station in the district late on Sunday evening.
According to his family members, Pradhan had left home saying he was going to Boinda. As he did not return, the family members launched a frantic search but in vain.
Soon after GRP personnel spotted Pradhan’s body beside the railway tracks, they informed his family members, who rushed to the spot to identify the body on Monday morning.
While police suspected that Pradhan might have tried to get down at Kainphulia and died after slipping off the train’s foothold, the former legislator’s family members informed that he was suffering from memory loss for the past few days.
Pradhan had been elected from the Athamallik Assembly constituency on an Utkal Congress ticket in 1971.
