A total of 867 units of blood were collected at a Jeevan Bindu programme organised here by the Eastern India Oil Refinery Workers’ Union on Sunday to mark the birth centenary of late Biju Patnaik.
Rajya Sabha member and Jagatsinghpur district BJD president Bishnu Charan Das inaugurated the voluntary blood donation camp as the chief guest. Jagatsinghpur Zilla Parishad president Devidutta Mohanty and former PPT trustee and social workers Saroj Kumar Pattnaik joined as guest of honour.
The SCB Medical Collage Hospital and the Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital collected the blood. Red Cross officials too were present. The blood donation camp was organised in two phases.
Eastern India Oil Refinery Workers’ Union president Santosh Kumar Pattnaik congratulated the blood donors and members and well-wishes of the union.
