Over 800 units of blood were collected in October, known as the Voluntary Blood Donation Month, in Koraput district.

The act has been taken up in a mission mode. It all began with a camp led by Dr Ratikanta Khatua who first donated blood and appealed others in Koraput to come forward to donate blood. Between Oct 1 and 31, numerous oganisations like the BDA , the Press Club, the Samaja, the Baji Rao Group, the JRC Boipariguda, the Aam Odisha, the YRC Boipariguda and Semeliguda, the Sunabeda Womens’ College, the DAV College and the BSF have contributed to the mission by donating blood.

While the daily need of the blood bank is increasing day by day, various camps were organised in the inter pockets of the district where a large number of youths came forward to donate blood. “A Red Revolution has started from Koraput and will soon spread throughout the State and nation,” said by BBO Dr Khatua.
