A poor elderly widow of Kutra area is now homeless and helpless and begging on street after she was tortured and driven out from home by her daughter-in-law.
The woman lost her son five months ago and after his death, her daughter-in-law married another person.
According to sources, Jaema's (80) only son had died five months ago and Jaema had broken down after death of her son.
Her daughter-in-law married another person and even brought her second husband to Jaema's house at Kutra and Jaema had no courage to oppose her daughter-in-law.
later, her daughter in-law started torturing Jaema and her torture became so unbearable that, she had to leave her own house and move hither and thither in the scorching heat. She was spotted at the Rourkela bus-stand.
By then, her health condition had deteriorated so much that she was not being able to stand on her own. While Jaema narrated her agony and torture of her daughter in law, she was seen continuously crying. She is now begging at the Rourkela bus-stand and Rourkela railway station. Jaema is sleeping on her torn saree at the bus stand or railway station in night hours.
“ I had no idea about the plight of this elderly widow. I will immediately look into it and ensure that she gets all necessary assistance from the Government,” said Kutra BDO PK Jena.
