In the umpteenth case of its kind in the State, an eight-year-old boy was branded with hot iron by his mother at Panchama village in Keonjhar district.
The matter came to the fore on Thursday when the child was admitted to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital after his condition deteriorated.
The child’s mother Gurucharan Kala branded the head of her son when he did not recover from a fever he was suffering from for two days. After his condition became worse, family members of the child admitted him to the hospital.
Dr Kabindra Prasad Sahu, who is treating the child at the hospital, however, said the child’s condition is now fine. The hospital would provide treatment to him free of cost.
