Eight students of Odisha garnered international ranks in the Olympian Awards given away by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) for academic year 2013-13 at a programme organised in New Delhi recently.
Of eight students, two got Rank 1 in the International Science Olympiad. They are Samarpit Sahoo of Class VIII from DPS Rourkela and Abhishek Sahu of Class X from DAV Chandrashekarpur. They got Rs 50,000 as cash prize and a gold medal each.
Prasoon Pattnaik of Class VI from DAV Burla won Rank 2 in the International Mathematics Olympiad and five other students got Rank 3.
They are Abhishek Mohanta of Class VII from ISPAT English Medium School (Cyber Olympiad), Aishani Chaudhuri of Class III from loyola School Bhuvneshwar, Sourav Sahoo of Class XI from DAV Chandrashekarpur, and Abhishek Panda of Class 11 from DAV (Mathematics Olympiad) and Shruti Arya of Class 9 from loyola School (English Olympiad).
Justice Dipak Misra of the Supreme Court, NIT Manipur Chairman Prof YS Rajan, and Education Director of the British Council India Richard Everett graced the occasion.
