Capital city Bhubaneswar registered 75 new positive cases on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 29,454.
Out of the fresh cases, 61 were local contacts and 14 from quarantine centres, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.Meanwhile, two persons succumbed to the disease on the day, pushing the total toll to 172.
However, 142 persons recovered on the day, taking the city’s total recoveries to 28,2820. With this, the active cases dropped below 1,000 and reached 988.
Earlier on Tuesday, 69 new positive cases had been reported in Bhubaneswar while 180 had recovered from the disease.
In Cuttack city, 48 positive cases were reported on the day, taking the total tally to 15, 045.
Among the new cases, 20 were local contacts and 19 institutional quarantine and nine home quarantine cases.
