The Karanjia, Paradip and Jajpur municipalities have topped different categories in the Swachh Survekshan-2019, a survey report released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs recently. The Karanjia Municipality has been adjudged the East Zone’s fastest moving city in population of less than one lakh category. During the survey, a total of 251 citizens of Karanjia provided their feedback. While 75 per cent of residential and commercial areas are 100 per cent clean, all the public and community toilets prominently have safe sanitation system and display Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) messages. More than 85 per cent of meat/fish or vegetable/fruit markets are found to be clean. All the bus stands and railway stations are clean.
Paradip Municipality is the Fastest Mover City in the East Zone in 50,000- 1 lakh population category. More than 75 per cent of residential and commercial areas are clean and more than 70 per cent CT/PTs are clean and user-friendly and display SBM messages. All the Community and public toilets have linked to onsite safe and close sanitation system. Majority of bus stands and railway stations are clean and without OD spots.
Similarly, Jajpur Municipality has topped the category of Fastest Mover City, East Zone in 25,000-50,000 population category. More than 95 per cent of residential and commercial areas and almost all community and public toilets were found to be substantially clean, user- friendly and equipped with all basic essential requirements. The toilets also display SBM messages. Fish and meat markets were also found clean.
