As many as 71 persons have committed to donate their bodies after death to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the year of 2013-14, said AIIMS sources here on Thursday.
The AIIMS on Wednesday observed the Organ Donation Day where the committed body donors were present. The institution gave its donors’ Identity cards on the occasion.
Out of the total 71 persons, a woman who had committed to donate her body died on Thursday morning, as a result of which the AIIMS got its first-ever donated body.
The institution sources said the medical students would get benefit out of the donations as the bodies would be used for their practical purposes during study.
