While an oxygen crisis is witnessed in the country amidst the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has extended a helping hand in setting up seven oxygen plants in Odisha.
The seven oxygen plants would be constructed in Jharsuguda, Boudh, Koraput, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Bhadrak districts. The plants would be set up at six District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs) and the Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (AHRCC) in Cuttack, informed an official.
Oxygen would be supplied to hospitals through pipes and the project would be completed within a stipulated time period. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) would build the oxygen plants while the NHAI would look after the civil and electrical works. The exact sites have been finalised for setting up of plants. The construction work has already begun in Cuttack and Boudh, informed NHAI AGM RP Panda.
