Seven Odia migrant workers, who had been stranded at their workplace at Nelur in Andhra Pradesh, pedalled their bicycles 800 long km to reach home in Gajapati district on Tuesday.
They had not registered their names with the Government before leaving for Gajapati. However, they were caught at a check-post on the city outskirts here. Police soon sent them to a quarantine centre at Betaguda.
According to information, the seven are residents of Sara village of Ukhura gram pancyayat under Gumma block. They didn’t get any option to return home even as they tried a lot during their two months’ stay at Nerul due to the ongoing lockdown. As they spent all money they had, they were forced to return home by pedaling.
