The Commissionerate Police on Thursday started an investigation into the murder of a foreign liquor (Fl) shop salesman by some unidentified armed miscreants at Aiginia on the outskirts of the city late on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Rakesh Kumar Sahu alias Raka (25) from Jagatsinghpur.
Sources said the police have detained seven persons in connection with the case. After examining CCTV footage of the Fl shop and interrogating the persons, the police team could get significant clues to nab the culprits involved in the murder, sources added.
Notably, two persons parked their car in front of the liquor shop located near the Aigania over-bridge; purchased liquor and walked away later without paying the amount.
Salesman Rakesh followed them to their car for payment and insisted them to pay. Within no time, one of the miscreants took out a revolver and fired at Rakesh’s head from point blank range and left the place immediately.
After getting information about the firing, the Khandagiri police rushed to the spot. Twin City Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bhubaneswar) Nitinjit Singh also reached the spot to supervise the team in the probe.
