Seven girl students of the Gazalbadi Government Upper Primary School under Sorada tehsil in Ganjam district had to skip their matric examinations on Monday due to diarrhoea. More than 18 students suffering from the disease after eating food at the school hostel’s canteen on Saturday night have been admitted to the Sorada hospital for treatment.
Sources said, some students residing in school hostel complained of stomach ache and showed symptoms of diarrhoea and later started vomiting after eating food at the canteen. They were rushed to the Gazalbadi hospital and later shifted to Sorada hospital as there was no doctor at the hospital.
Some of the students were discharged after primary treatment. However, seven girl students, who were asked to sign the register before getting admitted to hospital, had to miss their HSC examination in the process.
