In a shocking incident, a 67-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a distant relative in the Mahulapali police station area of the district on Thursday.
The woman was allegedly raped by a 42-year-old relative, who was staying in the same locality.
What was more shocking was that the accused inserted a wooden stick in the woman’s private part after committing the crime and fled from the spot.
Later, the critically-injured woman was rescued and rushed to the Kuchinda Sub-Divisional Hospital.
A complaint was lodged at the Kusumi police outpost, which comes under the Mahulapali police station, in this connection. “Investigation is on into the incident. We have launched a manhunt to nab the accused at the earliest,” said a police officer.
