A total of 67 candidates belonging to different political parties and independent category have filed nominations for 20 Zilla Parishad seats under Brahmapur Sub-Division in Ganjam district.
While the highest 35 candidates submitted nomination on the last day on Tuesday, 32 had put in papers the preceding day.
According to information, the BJD, the Congress and the BJP have fielded candidates in all seats. The rest seven candidates include three of CPM, one of CPI and three independent candidates.
Heavy rush was marked at the Sub-Collector’s office on Monday and Tuesday as all candidates came in processions with large number of supporters to submit nominations.
Interestingly, two of the 67 candidates are B Tech degree holders, and they have filed nominations on BJD tickets. They are W Balkrishna (Rangeilunda Zone 53) and Sagarika Sahu (Patrapur block Zone 34).
Similarly, a journalist, Sameer Rath, has filed nomination for Nimakhandi gram panchayat seat.
