As many as 657 different posts are lying vacant in the nine Government printing press units at different places in the State, informed Commerce Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi in the Assembly on Saturday.
Replying to a question put by member Pravat Ranjan Biswal and additional questions put by Priyadarhi Mishra and Aswini Kumar Patra, the Minister said there are nine Government printing press units, including three in Bhubaneswar, operating in the State. While these units have a total of 1,703 sanctioned posts, only 1046 employees are serving, he informed.
Stating that the Government has no proposal to set up new printing press units, Majhi said scheduled forms belonging to all departments, directorates and Government agencies are printed free of cost in these existing printing press units. But, non-standard forms and other documents are printed on payments. Similarly, Government corporations print their documents in these units by making payments, he informed.
