In an outrageous incident, a 20-year-old youth allegedly raped a 65-year-old widow on Monday evening at village Ostapala under the Kaliapani police station of Jajpur district.
The incident occurred when the woman was returning to her house from the local market. The youth dragged her into the nearby forest and raped her.Police arrested the accused Kuni Sidhu of village Koipashi on Tuesday after the woman filed an FIR at the police station alleging that the accused committed the heinous act. Both the victim and the accused were medically examined.
The offender was booked under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC, said Kaliapani police station IIC Sishir Kumar Mishra.The accused was produced in the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) at Jajpur Road. The court rejected his bail application and remanded him to jail custody.
