A minor girl was allegedly raped by a 65- year-old man at Kuanrpur village under the Mangalpur police station in the district.
Though the incident occurred on Tuesday, it came to light after the victim’s family lodged a complaint with police on Wednesday, said Mangalpur PS IIC Asit Ranjan Mohanty.
The accused is also a resident of the same village. According to the complaint, the accused raped the girl at his house after luring her with chocolates, Mohanty said.
The girl informed her mother about the incident. Medical examinations of the victim and the accused were conducted at the District Headquarters Hospital on Thursday,The accused was arrested under relevant Sections of IPC and POCSO Act and forwarded to a local court. Later, the old man was remanded to judicial custody for two weeks.
