65-yr-old disabled denied house, regular pension

Bagun Tapan (65) of Jharabhal village under Batisuan gram panchayat in Pallahara block is a born disabled person.

He has no family and no house. Bagun has applied for a house under Indira Awas Yojana since long but in vain.

He had a tricycle 15 years ago and begged from village to village with the help of the cycle but the cycle is now damaged.

Bagun is getting Rs 500 as disable pension and 5 kg rice per month, which is insufficient for one month's living and hence, he depends on his relatives for food.

Most of the days, Bagun stays starved. His two legs are completely defunct but he has not got a walking stick. So, he is using a bamboo stick for day-to- day work.

Bagun's plea for a tricycle in Panchayat and block offices have only fallen on deaf ears.

Although the Government has declared many special facilities for the disabled persons, but Bagun has got no benefit. Bagun does not get his monthly pension regularly. The panchayat executive officer does not look into the matter, alleged Bagun.
