Around 65 persons were hospitalised on Tuesday after they were taken ill by consuming Sirni in the house of one Satyananda Pradhan on the occasion of the 21st day of the birth of a child on Monday night at Solara village.
Many villagers of Solara had gone to the house of Satyananda on the occasion of the 21st day (Ekosia) of the birth of the house owner’s son. After eating the food, many people fell ill. Those affected were rushed to the Community Health Center (CHC) at Barachana.
“It is a case of food poisoning. Their condition is stable. A team of doctor is treating them,” said CDMP Dr Barish Kumar Das of Jajpur.
The administration and the Health Department are taking the issue seriously and an investigation is on to find the reason behind the food poisoning, said Jajpur Collector Ranjan Kumar Das.
