Six minor boys were rescued by the Jharsuguda Child Welfare Committee (CWC) from the Jharsuguda railway station on Monday night while they were being trafficked to Mumbai.

The children belonging to Rangamati village of West Bengal are aged between 12 and 14 years. Jharsuguda District Child Protection Officer Sunanda Maharana said the children were being taken to Mumbai by three suspects of the same village allegedly to work in jewellery-making industries. The three suspects were detained by the Jharsuguda Government Railway Police (GRP).

All the minors were produced in front of the CWC on Tuesday and sent to the Faith Outreach and Good News India Children Home. “The parents have been informed and the children would be handed over to them as per the legal procedure,” said CWC official.
