A day after a Bangladeshi national was arrested for allegedly forging documents to obtain an Indian passport, police on Tuesday detained six Bangladeshi citizens here for possessing fake passports.
The six Bangladeshis were detained by the Nayapalli police on suspicion of possessing fake passports. The police are interrogating them to ascertain the truth, sources said.
On Monday, a Bangladeshi youth, Sheikh Abdullah, had been detained by the Nayapalli police after the Regional Passport Office officials reported to the police about the applicant getting the passport after furnishing a forged voter identity card.
Abdullah had come to the passport office here for a police clearance certificate (PCC) to travel to Kuwait. But the officials grew suspicious during verification.
During interrogation, police found that Abdullah, who was claiming to be a resident of Tarini slum under VSS Nagar area in the city, had provided forged documents to obtain the passport.
