The forest personnel of Rajnagar Range on Friday rescued a six feet estuarine crocodile  from the Naladia minor school pond under Ostia gram panchayat of Rajnagar block. The locals came across the estuarine crocodile at the school  pond and informed the forest personnel to rescue the reptile. But as the forest personnel reached late, the locals  rescued the crocodile deftly from the pond with a fishing net.As the village is located near the Brahmani river, so the forest personnel suspect that during the new moon periods, crocodiles might have strayed  from their natural habit to the nearby rivers as the salinity levels increase due to ingress of  tidal water to the creeks and rivulets. It is going to be released into its natural habitat in the creek of Bhitarkanika, said the forest sources.
