The Jajpur Road police on Friday seized hard cash of `5 lakh from a local BJD leader’s four-wheeler near the Military Chhack under Sukinda Assembly constituency in Jajpur district.
The money was seized from Zilla Parishad member Mahendra Dhal’s vehicle at a check-post near Military Chhack while he was on his way from Jajpur road to Jakhapur, said Jajpur Road PS IIC Rajiv lochan Panda. Panda said the BJD leader could not give satisfactory answer about the source of money during investigation. Besides the cash, the police found pushing cards and posters of BJD candidate for Sukinda Assembly constituency Pritiranjan Ghadai in the vehicle.“We have informed the I-T department officials, the Expenditure Observer and the District Election Officer (DEO) for further action,” said IIC Panda.
