The BJP on Saturday said that as many as five lakh people would congregate at its Mahasamavesh (massive rally) to be held here on November 25 to expose inefficiencies and failures of the Naveen Patnaik Government during the last 17 years in the State.

The rally would be addressed by party’s national president Amit Shah and other senior leaders. “The aim of the Mahasamavesh is to unite students, youths, women, farmers, tribals and Dalits against the inefficient Naveen Patnaik Government, which has made the State number one in poverty in the country during its 17 years of rule,” said party State president Basant Panda after chairing a preparatory meeting for the proposed rally.

He said the BJP is committed to make Odisha Number 1 State in the eastern region of the country as per the promise and efforts initiated by the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre.

“A period of 17 years is a longtime for any Government to effect development in the State. But the BJD Government has failed to provide basic needs to people and pushed the State to utter poverty. The BJP has promised to throw out the Naveen Government in 2019 Assembly polls and lay a strong foundation stone for development of Odisha and to make it as Number One State in the eastern region of the country as dreamt by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Panda.

Party’s Odisha-in-charge Arun Singh said the Chief Minister is trying to cover up his inefficiencies while his Government has been involved in numerous corruption and scams.

Senior leader KV Singh Deo said Amit Shah, who has taken membership from Odisha, would address the rally and the State BJP will make it a big success.

Similarly, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said no development has been done in education and health sectors and lakhs of educated youths have remained unemployed due to inefficiency of the Chief Minister. Patnaik is only shedding crocodile tears in Mahanadi issue for interest of his party, he said and call upon party workers to make the November 25 rally a grand success.

Among others, general secretary (organisation) Sharada Prasad Satpathy, Bishwabhushan Harichandan, former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang, Manmohan Samal, Pratap Sarangi, all MlAs, vice-president Sameer Mohanty, Prithviraj Harichandan and Bhrugu Baxipatra were present.
