There was again an explosion of Covid-19 cases in capital city Bhubaneswar with 550 more persons testing positive on Friday.
With this, the positives’ tally rose to 12,403 in the city, including 4,822 active cases.
Among the new cases, 307 were local contacts and 243 from quarantine.
The quarantine cases included 31 mediapersons, 18 staffs of a bank near Rabindra Mandap, eight cases of Reserve Police, seven of Unit-9, seven of VSS Nagar, six of from Old Town, six of Rasulgarh, five of BJB Nagar, five of Jharpada Balaji Complex, four of IRC Village and four of Badagada Brit Colony.
The local contacts included 11 cases from NayapallI Kela Basti, 10 of Nayapalli Brit Colony, nine of IRC Village, eight of Patrapada, seven of Patia, six of Bharatpur, six of Shailashree Vihar, six of Chandrasekharpur BDA Colony, five of Tankapani Road and five of Saheed Nagar.
However, 272 persons recovered from the disease on the day, taking the city’s total recoveries to 7,523.
In Cuttack, 227 new positive cases were reported on Friday, pushing the city’s total cases to 5,796. Of the new cases, 60 were from institutional quarantine, 82 from home quarantine and 84 local contacts.
