Intensive field exercise is continuing in dengue-affected areas in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). On Sunday, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) visited Wards-7 and 14 under North Zone and team of doctors went to households having new fever cases. The objective of visit was to have a direct doorstep counselling of people having fever and symptoms like dengue. The team observed some suspected cases and discussed about signs and symptoms of dengue with citizens. The Government has arranged an Elisa testing facility at Capital Hospital and Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC)’ free of cost. A senior official said that without confirmation, no one should name it as dengue as it arouses panic in people’s mind and any case of fever can’t be termed as dengue. As of now, 51 confirmed cases have been detected in city. “Many are used to do their non-Elisa test which is not accepted to take appropriate steps. Rather, they should contact nearest health worker for a confirmatory test abiding protocol,” said BMC Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Singh.
