As many as 50 girls of the Government-run Kasturaba Gandhi Girls’ School of lahunipada in Sundargarh district fell ill after taking breakfast in the school on Wednesday.
After getting primary treatment at the local CHC, 36 students were discharged and 14 were admitted in CHC for further treatment. The lahunipada Block Education Officer Alladin Naik went to the school and conducted an inquiry. The school has a hostel for girls, who had been provided biscuits and sweets. After some time of the breakfast, they were also provided Chuda Upma and Dalma before they went for prayer, But after the prayer, some girls started complaining of pain in their stomachs and then vomited.
According to the doctor at the CHC, this was a case of food poisoning. “I am conducting an inquiry and whoever will be found guilty for food poisoning , action will be taken against them.” Naik added.
