In order to attract more voters, at least 50 model polling stations having facilities for youth, old persons and persons with disability (PWD) would be set up in various parts of the city for the ensuing polls.
Briefing mediapersons here, BMC Commissioner Krishan Kumar said the electors would be sensitised through the media to exercise franchise in large numbers. The model poling stations are expected to attract more voters on the polling day, he said.
“Two Voter Sahayak Kendras (VSKs) have been functioning, one at the Chief Electoral Office and another at the Sub-Collector’s office, which will remain functional till 3 pm of March 25, the last date of filing of nominations,” said Bhubaneswar ADM Manoj Patnaik.
The voters can add their names in the above VSKs by submitting a Form-6 along with residence proof, identity proof and one colour passport size photograph, Patnaik informed.
Patnaik further informed that one helpline is functioning at the BMC election cell from 8 am to 8 pm to address the queries of voters for the simultaneous General Election-2014. The voters can dial helpline number 0674-2430530 for any doubt.
The BMC Commissioner said an enforcement squad is functioning under the supervision of BMC Assistant Commissioner to see that the model code of conduct is being properly followed. The number of squads would be raised to nine and each Assembly constituency would be allotted with three squads, he said.
