One Satyavama Das , wife of Ramesh Chandra Das, a resident of Denua village of Nimapara block is a Schedule Caste.
Both husband and wife are daily wagers. They have two children. In 2013, Satyavama had a family planning operation in a camp at the Nimapara hospital. However, after 5 years, she is again pregnant.
She has five months’ pregnancy now. The family is unable to meet the expenses of the children and they are worried now as to how they will bear the expenses of the next issue.
It is clear that the negligence of the doctors has led to her plight. Health worker, doctor and medical staffs are putting pressure on them for abortion this time.
When contacted, Medical Officer of Charichhak community hospital Dr Ramaniranjan Sahoo gave an off-the-cuff remark. “It happens and there is Government compensation for it,” he replied.
