At least five persons were injured, two of them seriously, as a lPG cylinder exploded at Satyanagar housing board colony under Kharvela Nagar police limits here on Monday.
The injured persons were identified as Satyanarayan Mishra, his younger brother Suryanarayan Mishra, Satyanarayan’s wife Mamata Mishra, their son Rakesh Mishra and daughter Diti Mishra. They all were admitted at the Capital Hospital. Their condition is stated to be stable, sources said.
According to the sources, a feast was being organised at Satyanarayan Mishra’s house on the occasion of his son Rakesh’s thread ceremony in the morning, when the mishap took place. Diti came to the kitchen with some purpose. However, Diti was to face a grievous tragedy there as within a few minutes, a cylinder went off causing severe burn injury on her and on rest of the members of the house, who were just a few yards away.
On being informed, the Fire brigades rushed to the spot and doused the flame. Household articles worth lakhs of rupees were damaged.
