The Puri police on Tuesday initiated a process for confiscation of the properties of five servitors of the Shree Jagannath Temple, who are wanted by police for their involvement in the ruckus during the Niladri Bije ritual of the deities, after they have failed to surrender within the stipulated time.
The servitors whose properties are to be confiscated are Damodar Mahasuar, Jayakrushna Mahasuar, Saina Khuntia, Bhimshen Palankdhari and Ipsit Pratihari.
According to Puri Additional SP Jagannath Pradhan, a letter from the SP has been sent to the Puri Konark Development Authority (PKDA), Sub-the Collector, the Tehsildar and banks to furnish details of the movable and immovable properties in the names of the five servitors.
Pradhan further informed that after the details of their properties are received, police would apply to the SDJM Court here seeking its permission to attach the properties.
Notably, the confiscation process was initiated after the five unruly servitors failed to surrender before police by the deadline set for September 12.
