The Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested five more persons on the charges of making casteist remarks against some visitors at the Trahi Achyuta Ashram on the outskirts of the city.
The arrests were made based on the FIRs registered at different police stations against the self-styled godman Sura Baba alias Surendra Mishra, head of Trahi Achyuta Ashram, and some other associates. The Crime Branch has slapped charges under the relevant sections of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the accused.
With the arrest of five accused, the number of accused arrested in the case has now increased to seven. On August 31, the Commissionerate Police had arrested Sura Baba and his two sons after a marathon interrogation.
